Trisquel Mini: installing Atril makes pdf preview thumbnails available in PCManFM
Evince does not seem to be doing its thumbnailing job properly in LXDE, at least not with PCManFM. When the "Show thumbnails of files" option is selected in the "Display" section of PCManFM preferences, previews are displayed for most file types, provided their size is below the defined limit, but not for pdf files.
After installing Atril on Trisquel Mini 11, the pdf preview thumbnails are properly displayed if PCManFM preferences are set so. After reverting to Evince (and uninstalling Atril) preview for newly saved pdf files are not available: only the thumbnails previously created by Atril are still available. Installing Atril again solves the problem - again.
The libnautilus-extension1a package gets autoremoved after ditching Evince for Atril, which may be related to Evince discriminatory behavior against PCManFM (and possibly Caja). Since Atril is doing the job with PCManFM, and is already the default pdf viewer in Trisquel, it could be a good candidate to replace Evince as the default pdf viewer for future versions of Trisquel Mini.
