Pidgin is not visible to screen reader

I am making this issue because of a comment on the forum.

It seems like the default screen reader cannot read the text in the Pidgin windows, and I suspect the problem has to do with this message written to the console when running pidgin: (Pidgin:4): dbind-WARNING **: 14:20:43.550: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed to connect to socket /run/user/1000/at-spi/bus_0: Permission denied

I do not normally use a screen reader, so I'm not completely sure what is supposed to happen, but I'm pretty sure something isn't working. The screen reader can read the titles at the top of the windows, but not any text inside the window.
