After modifying the helper I was able to build and install. When I tried to test it I got an error:
redshift -O 4000Gamma ramp size too small: 0Failed to start adjustment method vidmode
From what I can gather online, this might be a hardware limitation on my end. If someone else can test and get redshift working on their machine, the package helper is probably fine and the WIP tag can be removed.
