linux-hwe-5.8: Update helper and silent-accept-firmware patch

As the recommendation in last dev meeting by quidam was to look at the original etiona patch, I've taken that one as a baseline and re-reviewed and added the things that I found useful. In consequence, to review these changes, it is much simpler to have a look at this diff. It is generated by comparing the reformatted original patch from !394 (closed) with the one in this MR.

@Ark74, sorry I maybe took over this one without notice. Do you think I missed something important in this patch?
